Space Shuttle Atlantis lifts off with a crew of six at 2:28 p.m. on 16 November 2009 from Kennedy Space Center on a flight (STS-129) to deliver a cargo of spare parts to the International Space Station. Looking forward to the day when the shuttle retires in the near future, this flight is delivering large, heavy material that might be needed in the future that other launchers will not be able to lift to the ISS. The images below show liftoff and the roll maneuver to put the crew in a heads down orientation for the ride into orbit. Go to Page Two of Two > > > | |
