The space shuttle Discovery with seven astronauts aboard leaves the Earth on 4 July 2006 after lifting off at 2:38 p.m. from Kennedy Space Center. STS-121 will resupply the International Space Station along with carrying up a new crew member from the European Space Agency that will stay on the Station for an extended visit.
