A Delta 2 rocket successfully lifted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 6:15 p.m. on 21 June 2006 after several delays including a boat trespassing in the Range. The rocket is carrying twin satellites collectively called the Micro-satellite Technology Experiment (MiTEx) to test new technologies for military satellites. An experimental rocket stage from the Navy Research Laboratory is, also, making its first test flight. The images show lift-off, the rocket passing through clouds at upper left, and, upper right, the separation of the solid rocket boosters. Two of the boosters can be seen just as they start to come off the rocket. | |
