Wrapped in the diffuse glow of a light fog, a military Delta 2 rocket hauling a Global Positioning System satellite (GPS 2R-14) is launched into orbit by the Air Force at 11:37 p.m. on 25 September 2005 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. This is the 53rd launch of a GPS satellite with 28 operational GPS satellites currently in orbit.
