A Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) Falcon 9 rocket makes its second flight carrying an operational Dragon space capsule into orbit. This flight is a demonstration flight for NASA’s Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) that has the eventual goal of allowing commercial companies to carry supplies to the International Space Station after the Space Shuttle Program ends. Liftoff occurred at 10:43 a.m. on 8 December 2010 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The Dragon capsule orbited the Earth twice before successfully splashing down for recovery in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico. Go to Page Two of Two > > >
