NASA Deputy Administrator Lori Garver talks to the Social.
After several talks by NASA officials, we boarded a bus to take us to the launch viewing area used by the news media on the NASA Causeway. Here can be seen several television news vans covering the launch.
The media waiting for the launch. I found it better to stay up on the embankment along the road since the slight elevation gave some clearance to the intervening ground in the view of the pad. The clouds would soon cover the Sun for good by launch time with a dark overcast.
The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off on-time at 10:10 a.m. on 1 March 2013 though Dragon would prove to be a bit balky when problems developed almost immediately with its Draco thrusters forcing a reset in orbit that caused a delay in docking to the ISS.
Disappointingly, Falcon disappeared into the clouds for good shortly after launch ruining any chance to get lots of photos of its flight.
