The Solar Radiation and Climate Experiment (SORCE) spacecraft aboard an Orbital Sciences Corporation (OSC) air-launched Pegasus vehicle rockets away from its L-1011 carrier aircraft on 25 January 2003 at 3:14 p.m. after being dropped over the Atlantic Ocean about 100 miles south-east of Cape Canaveral. Cloudy weather along the coast hampered a firsthand view but a good tracking image from a chase plane could be had on the TV at the Sebastian Beach Inn (SBI). Upper inset shows a patron playing the jukebox during the launch. Lower inset shows the cloudy, windy conditions at time of launch looking north toward Cape Canaveral.
