On a night appropriately filled with thick fog, the last Atlas 3B rocket carries a spy satellite into orbit for the National Reconnaissance Office. With even the nearby launch pad obscured by thick intervening fog, this cloak-and-dagger launch was seen only briefly well at altitude through a hole in the clouds as the rocket slipped away into the night trailing a tail of flame. Launch occurred on time at 2:41 a.m. 3 February 2005 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. | |
