NASA’s MErcury Surface, Space, Environment, GEochemistry and Ranging (MESSENGER for short) space probe is visible only briefly through transparent clouds left over from Tropical Storm Alex as it starts its seven year voyage to the planet Mercury in these two long range views from the front yard. Delayed a day due to bad weather, MESSENGER started its journey at 2:15 a.m. on 3 August 2004 onboard a Delta 2 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. | |
