A Titan 4B rocket lifts a Defense Support Program missile-warning satellite, DSP-22, into orbit at 1:50 p.m. from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on 14 February 2004. Clouds and haze did much to obscure the view while the threat of rain almost scrubbed the launch for the day. The top images above show the rocket in flight and the dissipating exhaust plume while the bottom row shows a wide-angle view of the liftoff.
