A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifts off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force station to deliver the AsiaSat 8 telecommunications satellite into orbit. Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Limited’s AsiaSat 8 will distribute a mix of television and radio broadcasting, voice networks, private VSAT networks, and broadband multimedia service to China, India, the Middle East and South East Asia. Liftoff occurred at 4:00 a.m. on 5 August 2005 with the first few minutes of flight chronicled in this long time exposure. |
